5 Luxury Bath Ideas for your Home Spa that will Help you Relax

Tired and stressed from a long day? It gets better knowing you have a peaceful place to come home to every day. What’s even better than having a peaceful home, is having a home spa to relax and unwind. Creating serenity is so worth it.

This BBC article was eye-opening to me. It says when considering both paid and unpaid work (such as housework and childcare), women work approximately 30 minutes more per day (or 39 more days per year) than men.

Ladies, think about it, that’s more than a month’s work more than men. SMH.

I’m grateful my husband and I are equal partners in the household work, but that is not the norm.

Because women work hard we need to relax more and not feel guilty about it.

Here are five luxury bath ideas to add to your home spa that will make relaxing priority #1!

[1] Create luxury in your home spa

It doesn’t matter your home spa is big or small, you can make it work to fit your space. Get creative and add a bench, candles, essential oils and more as I detail below.

This home gym was remodeled into a home spa. Genius!

The spa table like the one pictured is a portable option. Or this one in pink.
A home spa bench will work for smaller spaces.

Candles

Diptyque’s candle collection is excellent. They are an affordable luxury, [is that even a thing?], and has an array of uber-feminine fragrances. I especially love the Baies or berry scent. The top note is rose, with a hint of citrus, and black currant as a bottom note.

When I tell you that this scent is divine, girl I meant it!

I’m not typically a fan of the rose fragrance, but I love this one because of the fruity notes.

I also purchased the body fragrance. The woman in the store said it is poor taste to wear a fragrance on your body that you would also use as a home fragrance.

Say what now?

I bought both and kept on going – I’m a rule breaker! Ha!

Actually, the body fragrance is a bit different, it’s called L’Ombre dans l’Eau.

Lavender

Greek and Roman customs scented their bath and soaps with lavender. When in Rome…you know the rest.

Essential oils

I bought an oil diffuser and I’m obsessed with it. Essential oils have so many health benefits depending on what you want to achieve. For the home spa, I would definitely have in stock lemongrass, lavender, and frankincense.

Here’s a quick recipe for your spa bath with essential oils:

  • Full-fat milk – 1 cup
  • Frankincense – 10 drops
  • Lavender – 5 drops
  • Bergamot – 5 drops

Mix the oils and the milk in a bowl and pour into your hot bath for relaxation haven.

Frankincense is a calming scent and helps to release anxiety. Lavender is known for its antidepressant qualities. Bergamot is also effective against anxiety.

Fresh flowers/petals

If your hubby or significant other doesn’t have the knack for romance, spoil yourself with fresh flowers and petals in your bath.

Epsom salt

This natural mineral, (not actually salt), combines magnesium and sulfate to help flush toxins and heavy metals from the cells, easing muscle pain and helping the body to eliminate harmful substances. Check out other beauty, household, and gardening uses of Epsom salt at SaltWorks.

[2] Home Spa inspiration from your vacation

When my hubby and I traveled to Jamaica, each night the butler had an amazing bath ready for us. It was divine. The petals in the bath were exquisite. We were so spoiled!

Have you had a vacation that inspired you to create the same look in your home?

[3] Make your home spa completely about you

My favorite flower is the orchid because it’s delicate and exotic. I also have an affinity for pineapples which are symbolic for welcoming. What can your home spa say about you to reflect how you want to feel after a long day?

[4] Home spa extras

A towel warmer is a luxury at-home spa add-on. A quick fix is to pop the towels in the dryer but it doesn’t have the same effect.

Soothing music or just silence can set the mood for relaxation.

Unwind with your favorite book.

[5] Organic Home Spa

We talked about a lavender plant, essentials oils, and flowers, but don’t forget about items you probably already have at home. Coconut oil and olive oil are must-haves for a home spa.

A spa day right home can be achieved with candles, flowers, oils and a bit of creativity.  Sooth and de-stress with music and scents that you love. Make this about you because you deserve it!

If you have questions about what to feature in your home spa, I’d love to help you with some inspiration! Let me know your favorites in the comments!

Truly,

Monique
